I am currently obtaining my masters in Digital Learning and Leading at Lamar University. This is the page where I will share my learning, reflections and collaborate with others. On this page you will find My Journey, A Reflection of the DLL program and Links to all of the Work I have created in the DLL program. Click on the links below to here about what I have learned. Feel free to explore and don't hesitate to reach out! We can all learn from each other!
My Journey.
A Reflection.
Throughout my adventure in the Digital Learning and Leading program at Lamar I was guided to create, reflect, collaborate and share my work and learning with others. In the end, it all lead to the final creation of this e-Portfolio where I have a collection of work to be shared and used again. Here is the learning and work I have completed along the way of my DLL journey.
Growth Mindset
In our first course we were setting the foundation to our learning. We knew there were going to be challenges along the way and we wanted to prepare ourselves for a different way of learning. We started by studying what it means to have a growth mindset, how a growth mindset can change our learning and how we could teach others about growth mindset.

ePortfolio
The next step in our foundation was to begin to set up our ePortfolio. This would be the platform where we could create, reflect and share our learning with each other and others outside of the program. This was where I first felt like I had a true choice and ownership (blog) in my learning by setting up my eportfolio (blog) platform in a way that fit me and my message. It would later become my voice and has been a great source to refer back to and improve throughout my journey.

Disruptive Innovation in Education
In this course we were given an authentic learning experience that would could apply right away in our schools. We had to create an innovation plan. This was our choice in what we wanted to create, further helping us to experience the COVA approach ourselves. My coworker Andrea and I saw the importance of STEAM education in the classroom and decided to build our plan around STEAM. We would continue to work on and develop this plan throughout future courses. |

Leading Organizational Change
We next learned how to promote change within our organization by starting with our Why (blog). We developed a plan using the 4 disciplines of execution strategy and a plan to influence change (blog) within our organization. We learned that to promote change you must start with your why, determine the vital behaviors needed to get the results we want and use the 6 sources of influence to get others involved. We know that to promote change there will be some crucial conversations (blog) and have learned what it takes to be a differentiated leader (blog). For me this was one of the most interesting courses because I did not think I was interested in a leadership role until I became more confident using the skills I have learned from this course.

Creating a Significant Learning Environment
We know how important the COVA approach is in student learning but there was one more piece. You also have to Create a Significant Learning Environment. Using what I have learned about COVA & CSLE, This was one of my favorite courses because it had changed my learning philosophy and how I now believed students learned best. We used backwards design and a UbD framework to align our outcomes, assessments and activities. By keeping the end in mind we were able to make sure that all of our work had the same BHAGs as well as CSLE (blog) for our students to learn.

Digital Learning in Local and Global Contexts
Next we were able to look at our STEAM innovation plan and the effects STEAM education has with local and global studies. We were able to find the things that went well and things that could have been improved. We then composed a Literature Review of what we found about Why Teaching STEAM is important.

Assessing Digital Learning and Instruction
We then learned about the 4 stages of Action Research and develop a plan to collect data to share. We completed another literature review to support our innovation plan and action research: Importance of STEAM and 6C Skills in Today's Education & Why STEM for English Language Learners.

Digital Citizenship
In digital citizenship (blog) we leaned about the 9 elements of digital citizenship. We learned that to be a good digital citizen involves more than just being respectful, it is also giving back to the digital community, sharing your ideas and leaving a positive footprint (blog), following and teaching copyright laws (blog) and teaching our students about cyberbullying (blog). With the advancement of technology communication it is important to understand and teacher our students what it means to be a digital citizen (blog) and the impact technology can have in our lives.

Resources for Digital Environments
Being able to write an article about a digital resources was very new to me. I was excited to try and get my paper published. While it is not published yet, I am determined to continue trying to get this paper, as well as any others I write in the future, published. I now know the process of creating and entering my work. Publication Article not yet posted but you can see a video introducing my article for future publication here.

Instructional Design in Online Learning
It was interesting to create an online course. We were able to create resources for our students and activities for them to complete using an LMS called schoology. I plan to take what I have learned and try to next use a different platform (probably google classroom) to continue online learning for my students.. |
Selected Instructional Topics
This class was another one that was very impactful. I believe many PDs that I am currently attending could be great PDs if they were taught in an effective way. I enjoyed learning the process behind what an effective PL looks like & I now feel confident I could host an effective PL (blog) for my organization.

EDLD 5320 – Synthesis Digital Learner
By reviewing all that I have learned and reflecting upon the work I have completed towards this degree, I now feel confident in being a digital learner and leader for my organization. This program has changed the way I teach by implementing COVA & CSLE. I am confident that I can now implement other innovation plans (like blending learning and PBL) and have a process to model and share ideas with staff. Most importantly, I feel like I have gained the knowledge to continue to use what I have learned, further collaborate and be a confident, innovative teacher and leader for my students and school.
